Chemotherapy, Cancer, & Skin Care – What To Do

Posted on October 27, 2014

Many people each day have to hear the unforgiving words from their doctor “You have cancer.” Abrupt and cruel as it seems there is not much we can do except keep a positive mind and undergo any cancer treatments that we think can help us overcome this and that includes chemotherapy.
Chemotherapy is harsh on your immune system and body and also particularly on your skin. We all know that when undergoing chemo, how your skin feels is probably the last thing on your mind. But since we are a skincare site we’ll talk about the side effects.
Chemotherapy drugs cause a range of stressful reactions to the skin, such as dryness, itchiness, and spottiness. Dry skin is very vulnerable so it is imperative to keep skin elastic and moisturized as much as possible during treatment. So when purchasing your anti-cancer cocktails from your doctor, be sure to also make a trip to your local Sephora or drugstore to purchase some hydrating body lotion, facial moisturizer, and irritated scalp treatment shampoo and conditioner.
Keep your skin healthy and let’s beat cancer!
