Skincare Tips for Men With Beards

Posted on June 24, 2014

Thinking of growing a full beard or already have the lumberjack look? It is important to know how to properly take care of your skin underneath your beard. Improper care can lead to “itchy beard” syndrome which can be painful and annoying. Here are some tips we recommend for men with full facial hair:

That is absolutely not true! Doing nothing may lead to itchy beard skin syndrome. One needs to treat it like hair on the top of one’s head — always shampoo and condition your beard. A Head and Shoulders shampoo will help eliminate beard dandruff while a conditioner will help reduce the prickly feel of your man fur.

2. Use a skin moisturizer. Hydrate your skin underneath your facial hair. This will also help soften your beard.

3. Use a facial exfoliator. Again, just because you can’t see it under your facial growth, your skin needs to be exfoliated at least once a week to reduce beard acne. Dirt and other grime can get trapped more easily in a beard than without so make sure you scrub away.

All this sounds pretty much the same. Men with or without beards need to take care of their skin. Lack of care results in dry, flaky, and sometimes itchy skin, all of which the chicks don’t dig. For recommended men’s skincare lines to use, check out our favorites here.
