Famous Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi is the power behind the ZO SKIN HEALTH luxury skincare brand. Many of our readers have asked us about them so we decided to give their Offects Exfoliating Polish facial scrub product a shot. Here is our product review of it:

ZO_Skin_Health_Offects_Exfoliating_Polish_Face_ScrubWhat sets this face scrub apart from others is its use of ultra-fine magnesium crystals from the Dead Sea as the exfoliating agent. The circular scrub motions felt gentle and effective. The texture of the Exfoliating Polish on the skin is similar to that of pressing on sand from sugar-sand beaches of the Maldives…so soft that you can’t believe it is sand! So it is not surprising to know that magnesium crystals are also used in professional microdermabrasion treatments. ZO Skin Health did a great job of choosing to use the word “Polish” in the product name as it does just that on your skin — making it much cleaner and smoother.

The Obagi scrub incorporates Vitamins A, C, E, and C-Esters to provide antioxidant support to your skin. Tea tree oil fragrance is added to give it that medicinal aroma. We found the scent to be not annoying or refreshing.

There are two downfalls with the Offects Exfoliating Polish. First, we found the price tag to be a little steep for a facial scrub. Priced at $65 for 65 g / 2 oz, it is one of the most expensive scrubs on the market. But is it worth it? We think so only as a once a week face treatment to keep your face looking smooth and even. However there are great less expensive alternatives we can recommend such as the Audaca Scrub (a harsh face scrub) and the TwinLuxe Renewing Face Wash & Scrub (a gentle face scrub). Second, the ZO Skin Health polish is packaged in a jar. We frown at this as the freshness is compromised each time you dip your fingers into it — a definite no-no for luxury skin care products.

So in summary, we recommend buying ZO SKIN HEALTH Offects Exfoliating Polish solely for its exfoliating properties and not for its anti-aging skincare formula. It’s a microdermabrasion at-home treatment that evens out skin complexions without the sand paper feel.
