When you think of big name brand Japanese skin care products, one of the first powerhouses that come to mind is Shiseido. One of their best selling women skincare ranges is a line called the ‘d Program’. Here we are reviewing the Shiseido d Program Moist Care Lotion.

Its intended purpose is to repair and protect the skin’s natural barrier function, while restoring moisture to the skin. The line is also recommended for acne prone skin. The D Program range is formulated using clean manufacturing processes without the use of certain potentially skin-irritating ingredients such as parabens, dyes, fragrance, and mineral oils.

First off, let’s talk about the bottle dispenser since we thought it was awesome. The Moist Care Lotion is packaged in an easy pumpable bottle using one of the best pump applicators we have used. Fantastic pump action and one can get every last drop out of the bottle.

The lotion itself is unscented, colorless, and has a water liquid feel to it. It definitely feels slippery and noticeably heavy on skin after application. The texture of the product feels very rich concentrated with skincare goodies. For a face lotion, we did notice that this product took a little longer than average for it to absorb into the skin. The final verdict is that Moist Care makes skin feel super soft and moisturized without any irritation. But the two downfalls of the product are that it leaves skin feeling slightly sticky and heavy feeling. Looking at the ingredient list, we can understand why….

Product contains Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil – a natural humectant which pulls moisture from the air and traps it close to the skin’s tissues but is thick and sticky. This is an ingredient you want to avoid in massage oils by the way. Other nice ingredients found in the product are Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract — a antioxidant skin conditioning agent, and Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract — an algae extract which soothes irritated skin.

So overall, the Shiseido d Program Moist Care Lotion does a fantastic job at making skin feel plump and hydrated. It does not clog pores and helps prevent acne breakouts. And if you don’t mind a slight stickiness feel, anyone with sensitive and dry skin should definitely include this product in their skin care arsenal. Priced at only $38 for 120ml, you cannot go wrong.
