8 Simple Tips for Keeping the Skin Around Your Eyes Healthy

The skin around our eyes is roughly ten times thinner than the skin on our face. And as the clock ticks, skin loses its elasticity and becomes even thinner due to the slow breakdown of collagen. The skin around our eyes is more affected by this loss of elasticity as we age due to its already thin nature. As a result, wrinkles usually develop first around our eyes and crow’s feet areas as we grow older.

Caring for the skin around our eyes is a very delicate process as it is the most sensitive part of our facial skin. Here are 8 simple tips for keeping the skin around your eyes healthy:

  1. Stay out of the sun or wear sunscreen. Overexposure to harmful UVA/UVB rays causes the skin to age and mature abnormally which can add several years to your appearance.
  2. Wear sunglasses when outside to avoid squinting.
  3. Drink plenty of H2O. Water is central to maintaining the proper skin elasticity.
