Simple Skin Care Tips for Men and Women

Posted on April 19, 2012

Every man or woman has his or her own individual skin care maintenance routine. Some spend 2 minutes refreshing their skin daily while others may spend 30 minutes pampering themselves with facial cleansers, masks, serums, and moisturizers. But there are a few common things that should remain the same for everyone when it comes to how to take care of your skin when going through your daily motions of skincare maintenance.

Here are 5 simple skin care and shaving tips I recommend everyone follow:

1) Limit Bath Time. Spending an excessive amount of time in a hot shower or bathtub removes oils from your skin. Limit your shower time to 5 minutes or less and use warm, rather than hot, water.

2) Pat Dry. After washing your face, gently pat or blot dry your skin with a soft cotton towel so that some moisture still remains on your skin. Don’t rub the towel too hard over your face.

3) Avoid Strong Soaps. Strong soaps and detergents strip your skin the essential natural oils you produce to help maintain the proper skin tone and moisture balance.

4) Moisturize. If your skin is dry, moisturize! You may want to consider using a moisturizer with SPF protection for daily use.

5) Shave Gently. After using a very moisturizing protective shave cream whether it be for your face, legs, or private parts, use a clean and sharp razor. Shave in the same direction as hair growth and glide the razor gently along its path without using too much pressure. For the best shaving tips, you can read here.
